Admissions

An application form must be completed and submitted to the school board for each applicant. An interview with the teacher and records from the preceding school will also be requested. All applications are subject to shcool board approval. We do not discriminate in areas of color, gender, race, ethnic origin, or economic status.

For all new students who apply and are accepted for enrollment, a ninety (90) day probationary period is implemented. This allows time for the school to evaluate if a student's needs are compatible with the program that is offered at Estabrook. All new and returning students are required to uphold the Code of Behavior.

Seventh-day Adventist schools usually do not have the equipment or the staff necessary for Special Education. We are, therefore, unable to accept students who have serious menta (organic, emotional), physical, or social handicaps. Any student who has special needs and who applies for enrollment will be considered on a case-by-case basis and will be required to uphold the Code of Behavior.

Code of Behavior

All students are expected to:

1. Uphold the religious philosophy of the school and to conduct themselves in a respectful manner toward all classmates and teachers in every school setting (classroom, playground, field trips, etc.). All language, actions, and attitudes are to be kind, courteous, and in harmony with Christian values.
2. Promptly follow a teacher's directions.
3. Develop and maintain skills in organization and work habits.
4. Conduct themselves in such a manner that preserves the learning atmosphere in the classroom and refrain from causing any undue distraction and disruption to others.

Entrance Age

Children entering the first grade must:

1. Be six (6) years of age by September 30th of the school year, and/or;
2. have successfully completed kindergarten, and/or;
3. pass a readiness test given by the teacher.

Unusual circumstances may be considered by the School Board in applying this policy.

Attendance

The school day will begin promptly at 8:00 A.M. and dismiss at 3:00 P.M. Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, the school day begins at 8:00 A.M., and will dismiss at 12 noon (no lunch). Students should arrive between 7:45—7:55 A.M. each day. Students are expected to be picked up promptly at the end of the school day.

It is the responsibility of the parents to give written account for tardiness, absence, or early dismissal from school, since state law requires students to be in attendance. Extreme emergencies, sickness, or bereavement are considered the only legitimate excuses for absences. A written excuse will be required upon the student's return to school. A doctor's note is required for an absence of 3 days or longer.

Absences from school for family travel may at times be allowed, but will be considered on an individual basis (prior approval is necessary from the principal). Acceptable excuses for tardiness are unforeseen emergencies, such as a flat tire, traffic difficulties, and weather related problems, etc. Unacceptable excuses are over-sleeping, forgetting items at home, telephone calls, etc. More than six unexcused absences or incidences of tardiness per quarter will result in a school board review of the situation.

Financial Policy

1. Any previous balance must be paid in full before registration.
2. The registration fee of $300.00 per student is due at registration. This fee will be used for textbooks, the school library, insurance, and/or school supplies.
3. All payments are to be made to Estabrook School and are given to the church treasurer. A payment booklet will be provided for your convenience.
4. Tuition Rate:
   SDA-sponsored student $200.00/month or $2,000.00/year
   Non SDA student $240.00/month or $2,400.00/year
   Friends in Learning student $50.00/month

   Tuition is to be paid on the first of each month for the ten months of September to June.

5. A 25% tuition discount is available for families who enroll 3 or more children.
6. If an account falls more than thirty days behind, arrangements must be made with the school treasurer toward the goal of bringing the account up to date.
